We Need Your Designs to Help Japan Recover!

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the people who have suffered due to the Tohoku Earthquake which occurred more than a month ago. No one can fully grasp the severity of the devastation, and it seems that recovery process will extend far into the future.
It’s a time of great despair for many people as they face a challenging reality, but there are people who believe in the strength of human relations and are pressing forward. We would like to assist them and their communities by doing what we can and send a sincere message of support as we work to rebuild Japan.
Therefore in order to support their recovery, we would like to send Marugame Uchiwa fans designed with messages from people all over the world as well as in Japan. This is a continuation of the project called the Marugame Uchiwa Project which began in 2006.
To all the respected designers who have participated in the FUNFAN exhibition in the past and to all the designers around the world who would like to join our cause, please send us your Marugame Uchiwa fan designs with the theme, “Keep Japan Strong After the Tohoku Earthquake: send the world’s love with the breeze of Marugame Uchiwa fans.” We will make Marugame Uchiwa fans with your designs in cooperation with Kagawa prefectural government, supporting companies, and other related organizations. A shortage of power in Japan this summer means rethinking the way we live and work. Marugame Uchiwa fans are one way we can help save energy.
Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the disaster and we hope that by sending our support in the form of your designs on Marugame Uchiwa fans, the recovery process will be able to proceed a little bit faster. We truly appreciate your consideration to help Japan overcome this time of hardship.

Project Outline :
Project 1 To exhibit and promote Marugame Uchiwa fans and call for participants in project
Project 2 To make Marugame Uchiwa fans with your designs and distribute them to people in affected areas
Project 3 To sell the designed Marugame Uchiwa fans to businesses and various groups and donate the profits
